The client expected me to deliver artwork that would advertise this event in busy areas, so getting the message across efficiently and effectively was key. Having met representatives of Promote at the BT Sports Industry Awards 2019, they looked over my portfolio and felt that my growing background in the sports industry made me a good fit for this project.
Promoting the World Para Swimming Championships
The process started with me getting to grips with the existing brand identity and brand guidelines and creating artwork from these. Across all designs, the artwork needed to include information about the event’s date, time and location, along with details on how to buy tickets.
The artwork that I produced needed to be in line with World Para Swimming’s brand guidelines rather than creating any visuals from scratch. However, I was given creative freedom over the overall look and feel of the designs, and I wanted to evolve the designs while still remaining faithful to the brand guidelines.
To really make the adverts eye-catching, I focused on using the brilliant imagery that was supplied to full effect. Using brush strokes, textures and waves, I created an adaptable design that could flow across printed media of all shapes and sizes.
The finished product included designs for a large advertising campaign across numerous mediums that were seen by hundreds of thousands of people in highly-exposed areas of footfall in the lead up to the event.
